I like fiddling with computer stuff. I run my own servers and my own services because I believe we should be more independent from big tech. Technolgoy underpins most of our modern life so we should be able to understand it, not only consume it. This blog is where I write about what I build and what I learn. The focus is digital sovereignty, open infrastructure, and security. These are not abstract principles but operational realities.
I have spent more than 10 years in the public sector, which has given me a particular perspective on where digital infrastructure is heading and what it would take to build it differently. In addition to my ample experience in the public sector, I am currently expanding my skills by working through a Master Program in Computer Science, further building my skills and competencies in the field of digital sovereignty.
My Stack Three bare-metal Proxmox nodes in Germany, connected via an encrypted full-mesh VXLAN with pfSense as the gateway, somewhere north of thirty self-hosted services from cloud storage (nextcloud), photo management (ente), office backend (paperless-ngx), over a self-hosted LLM instance (ollama) to automation (n8n). All this is underpinned and protected by a SIEM stack (Wazuh, Suricata, Zeek). None of it is in someone else’s cloud - I own all of it.
Other than that I do (all kinds of) sports, practice yoga, dance tango argentino, and travel when I can.
